PEM: Base64 encoded text, starts with -----BEGIN.... Used by Apache, Nginx, most Linux tools.
DER: Binary encoding of the same ASN.1 data. Used by Java, Windows CryptoAPI, iOS.
PFX / P12: PKCS#12 bundle: contains certificate + private key (+ chain) in one encrypted file. Used by IIS, Windows, macOS Keychain, mobile wallets.
